Maghery Community Centre was the venue for the launch of the Rosses Tree of Life CD on Friday, July 13. All proceeds from the CD are going to the Oncology Unit at Letterkenny General Hospital and the Donegal Hospice.

The CD features songs from many of Donegal’s best-loved artists including Mairéad Ní Mhaonaigh, Daniel O’Donnell, Majella O’Donnell, Dermot Byrne, Ian Smith, Jacqui Sharkey and loads more.

A number of local artists also took to the stage in a very entertaining variety concert which delighted the assembled crowd. Peformers included: Deirdre Bonner with Edel McLoughlin piano, Blue Ribbon Gleo Letterkenny, Kenneth Campbell with Domnick Sweeney, CCÉ Meenacross, PJSweeney, Jacqui Sharkey, Bridgeen Carr and Gavin Boyle.

The last performance of the night was Ann and Tony Croke. Thanks to Ann who gave a heartfelt and wonderful speech on her own experience of using the cancer services.

Co-ordinator of the event Geraldine Bonner thanked everyone for participating and in particular the artists who gave of their time, Joe Rogers for being MC on the night, the management and staff of Ionad an Mhachaire, and all the people involved in making the night such a success.
