The success of the “Strictly Come Dancing” over the last number of years has been phenomenal and has been emulated in many parishes and towns throughout the county proving a great fundraiser for many hard pressed local community groups and clubs.

Over the last number of weeks young dance enthusiasts from Killybegs and Kilcar have been busy working on their dance steps as they prepare to stage one of Ireland’s first Junior Strictly Come Dancing events.

Pupils from The Commons NS, Fintra NS and An Niall Mór are being joined by their neighbouring parish school - SN Chartha Naofa, Kilcar - for what promises to be the must-see spectacular of the year!

All the participants are now in full training mode as they prepare for what looks set to be a wonderful occasion at The Blue Haven Hotel on Sunday 25th November.

This unique and exciting event will feature a range of competitive dancing displays, as well as wonderful entertainment for all the family, including face-painting and balloon modelling. A raffle and other activities will ensure all members of the family have a fun-filled afternoon out!

Commenting on the event professional dance instructor Marian Shiels said: “I am absolutely delighted to be involved in this exciting and worthwhile event. We have started our dance training and it is already apparent that there’s a huge amount of talent in this group of young people. We have a lot of work to do over the coming weeks, but I can guarantee people this will be a show-stopping dance spectacular!”.

It has also been announced that Atlantic Dawn Group and Britton Insurance have come on board to provide some much-needed sponsorship for this unique and exciting community event.

Priced at €15 for adults and €10 for children, tickets for the event are now on sale at the Killybegs Parish Office (Tel: 07497 31013) as well as at all four participating schools.

Almost thirty children were selected by independent judges for participation in this competition, which is being held in aid of the St Mary’s Church Restoration Fund.

This is an opportunity not to be missed so make sure you purchase your tickets now for Donegal’s first-ever Junior Strictly Come Dancing – a community event that promises to be fun for all the family!
