This year’s Ballyshannon Harvest Fair takes place this weekend.

This year’s programme starts off with the Crowning of the Harvest Fair Queen at 9pm on Friday night in Dicey Reilly’s with music afterwards by Lone Star, compere Sean Perry.

There’s loads happening on Saturday, with Eagles and Birds of Prey as well as Face Painting on the Fair Green between 11am and 4pm. The Marquee in the Market Yard will host a display of Farm Produce and a Cake Sale from 12-2pm, followed by a Fancy Dress and Art Competitions as well as a Vintage Display.

Re-live Ballyshannon’s fascinating past, with BallyTour, as actors in period costume present the fascinating stories from times gone by, at 3pm at venues in the Town Centre.

At 4pm, Ballyshannon Brass and Reed Band will give a recital in the Market Yard area.

One of the big highlights of the weekend is always the House of Stories, which this year takes place at 9pm on Saturday night at The Thatch. After that, it’s music from the Rockhill Ramblers at the Bridge End Bar.

Most of Sunday is given over to active, outdoor pursuits at the Mall Park. From 1pm, it’s the Handball competition, the Josephn Guilfoyle Perpetual Cup with trophies sponsored by the Harvest Fair Committee. There will also be loads more fun with the a Model Aircraft Display and competitions in Tossing the Sheaf, Wellie Throwing and Tug-of-War.
