‘Abbamia’ is set to take to the stage at Coláiste Cholmcille

Coláiste Cholmcille in Ballyshannon are currently busy rehearsing their musical production of ‘Abbamia’ – which will be staged from December 12-15 in the Mercy Hall.

The musical’s plot is based on the movie ‘Mamma Mia’ – and features many of Abba’s greatest hits, including Mamma Mia, Super Trouper, Voulez Vous, Dancing Quenn and many more.

Set on a Greek island, the musical follows the story of Sophie who is set to marry the love of her life, a boy named Sky.

Sophie was brought up single handedly by her mother Donna, who owns a hotel on the island, and Sophie is determined to find the father she never knew.

Having secretly read her mother’s diary, Sophie finds that the father she desperately wants to give her away at her wedding, could be one of three men.

The show is produced by Geraldine Diver and directed by Maura Logue and musical director is Niamh Currid.

Julianne Murphy has choreographed the show, while the set design was by Joe Ward and built by Hugh McGlynn and his team of students. Wonderful costumes have been arranged by Fun Britton and her team of students

The exceptionally talented cast includes Roise Keon as Sophie, Ellis McGuiness as Sky, Énnae O’Connor as Donna, Luca Mellis as Sam, Liam Rodday as Bill, Brian Kelly as Harry, Claudia Coughlan as Rosie, Lauren Cleary as Tanya, Katie Gallagher as Ali, Cliodhna Kerr as Lisa, Shane Gallagher as Eddie and Matthew Burns as Pepper. A lot of time has been involved in rehearsing the show, the result is a vibrant showcase of the many myriad of talent in Coláiste Cholmcille.It is full of lively singing, dancing, acting and humour.

This show is a must see filled with many emotional high and lows, and guaranteed to be a night to remember.

Tickets are on sale in the school daily 12.15-1.30 pm and in Ormstrong’s Mace Thursday and Friday 9.30am-12 noon and 1.45-3pm.
