251 Gaisce medals presented to Donegal people

Gaisce - The President's Award is the highest Award in Ireland for young people aged 15 to 25 years of age. The renowned adventurer and explorer Humphrey Murphy presented the Gaisce Bronze and Silver Awards to a packed house of Awardees accompanied by their families, friends, teachers and youth leaders at a special ceremony in the Clanree Hotel, Letterkenny, Co. Gaisce - The President’s Award is the highest Award in Ireland for young people aged 15 to 25 years of age.
The renowned adventurer and explorer Humphrey Murphy presented
the Gaisce Bronze and Silver Awards to a packed house of Awardees accompanied by their families, friends, teachers and youth leaders at a special ceremony in the Clanree Hotel, Letterkenny.
In all 230 Bronze and 21 Silver Gaisce medals were presented to the young people from all over county Donegal.
In presenting the Awards, Humphrey Murphy praised the young people for their voluntary work in their local communities, for their achievements in sporting activities, the development of Personal Skills and their sense of Adventure. He also congratulated their President’s Award Leaders (PALs) for their dedication and commitment in supporting the young people through the Award programme.
The Awards which were established in 1985, currently attract over 20,000 participants per annum.
The Patron of the Gaisce Awards is President Higgins who will present the Gold Gaisce Awards in Dublin Castle next September.
