Sir,

With the upcoming European and local elections I think this is an opportunity for Sinn Féin to clarify its position on abortion.
While most people would have welcomed Sinn Féin's opposition to the extension of the 1967 Abortion Act to Northern Ireland, it is disappointing that Sinn Féin continues to endorse the International Planned Parenthood Federation, (which is an affiliate organisation of the world's largest abortion businesses) Charter on Sexual and Reproductive Rights.

Paragraphs 4, 5, 10, and 11 of this charter call for legal access to abortion on demand and for campaigns to be established in favour of such legislation in whatever states laws restricting abortion are in place.

Given the massive advances in ultrasound technology that show the wonder of the unborn child and recent reports showing the damage that abortion can afflict on women, I would urge Sinn Féin to use this election as an opportunity to adopt a pro-life position. Otherwise voters in Ireland North West should carefully consider their options.

Yours,
John Bradley,
Inishowen Pro-life,
Buncrana.
